We had to say “good bye” to our long time members Judi and Roger Wolfe as they have relocated to Pennsylvania. The couple joined our center in March of 2005 when we were housed in our old building (which is next to us and owned by the county).

Judi was the member who spoke up at our annual membership meeting in March of 2012 and requested that we seek a loan to finance the construction of our long planned new center. With the encouragement of the membership and with the help Judi provided through the years in her leadership as board member, we moved forward to where we are today. We will miss our friends but do know this was the best move for them.

We welcome our newly elected directors to our board: Pam Nelson (re-elected), Teresa Morales and Richard Sansbury. The new members will serve three-year terms beginning in January. We also thank outgoing director, Carolyn Huddleston for her service.

Do plan to attend Senior Night for Trail of Lights on Thursday, December 6. Doors open at our Center at 5:30 p.m. for refreshments and shuttle ride to see the lights. This event is only for seniors and is sponsored by Buda Lions Club and City of Buda. Will there be SNOW this year as like last year?

Soon after we moved into our new center in 2013, Louise Dahlke had an idea that would add income to our bank account. Dahlke discussed this plan with JoAnn Keller and soon they established a resale table that is called “Trash to Treasurer.” As our members and others in the community began to de-clutter or down-size their homes, donations of various items were given to our center.

Today we not only have the help of Keller, but also Jo Burdette, Sylvia Steele and Pam Ziegler. These ladies sort through the donations, pricing each item and placing on the re-sale table. You will find all treasures at a very reasonable price. Our “Trash to Treasurer” table averages around $125.00 per month.

A big thank you to the volunteer ladies for their work. We welcome donations and we encourage shoppers. Remember “someone’s “trash” is someone else’s “treasure.”

Remember to vote for our fundraising event in March

(replacing the name Amplify). Deadline is November 14.
